Constanze Thielecke is a visual artist living and working in Berlin. In her paintings and drawings she mixes historical, contemporary and mythical figures to create portraits with an otherworldly feeling. Starting with a figure that comes to her mind or that is taken from a cultural reference such as a sculpture or photograph Constanze puts these figures in new imaginary relations to each other.
Through mixing abstract and realistic style she celebrates the diversity of the female figure and her various story lines while also pointing out the often one-sided ways of their depiction in culture. Her art is about the empowerment of women, about bringing together power and female identity.
Constanze Thielecke studied Fine Art (Aberystwyth University, 2010) and Art in Context (University of the Arts, Berlin 2014) and has partaken in exhibitions in Germany and Europe.
